National Breastfeeding Week

Read an article on breastfeeding on today's Mind your Body. I agreed that not all mothers are able to breastfeed. Common problems encountered include sore or cracked nipples, blocked milk ducts, engorgement and lack of milk.

I did not succeed in breastfeeding Meredith, never really thought that engorgement could be so painful. At that time, due to poor latched on, I suffered cracked nipples and soon experienced engorged breasts. They got very hard and painful. I had fever too. My gyane gave me antibiotics and also had a cut on my right breast to remove the pus. I was very sad at the moment when my gyane asked me to stop breastfeeding.

Since then, I was determined to succeed for my second child, which I did. Still going on for Keegan. He is on total breastfeed. However, will be stopping when he turns 6 months which will be on 6 October 2008. Felt a little pity but at least I did it.

Regretted that I did not take photo of my "milk" which I stored in the freezer a month ago. I had problems storing them as my freezer was full, not able to buy ice cream and other frozen foods. However, I slow down my expressing and also with Keegan's increase milk intake, this is what I have now ...

Must not forget to take a nice picture of breastfeeding Keegan.

Attractive Package to boost Singapore's Birth Rate!

The government is giving more tax breaks, parental leave to boost Singapore’s birth rate. 16 weeks of maternity leave, baby bonus of $4000 etc. Indeed very attractive but not for me. Two is enough for me, at least at this moment.

With Keegan growing up, he wants attention too. Have to manage him and Meredith well to prevent jealousy. What is most headache for me is during sleeping time, when I need to help Meredith to brush teeth and change pyjamas, Keegan will cry for attention. Think I got to ask my maid to change her shower time. Really cannot imagine those mothers out there without maids.

Every night, they will both have their bedtime stories before sleeping. Meredith will sleep first followed by Keegan after his last feeding and lights off.

The only free time which I have is when both of them are asleep, which is now... So, third one... hmmmm...

Keegan's First Trip to Hairdresser

Brought Keegan to my mum-in-law's friend salon for a clean shave as he turned 4 months old. Decided to do the shaving as it looks uneven from the back with patches. Even though there is a grandmother tales about shaving hair on either 1st or 4th month, my mum-in-law is not particular about it. Therefore, all the grandchildren of Goh Family did not shave except for Joel & my Keegan boy. Hope his hair will be thick and black when it grows.

My Meredith & Renee Jiejie call me "Bo Ta" ...
