Birthday Girl's Day!

Today, Meredith turned 4 years old. Sang birthday song for her when she woke up in the morning.

On the way to school, she mumbled to herself, "birthday girl don't cry, I yawned only". Funny????

Did not celebrate in school as she doesn't want, so just distributed goodies bags for her friends. She was very happy and proud of it.

We went for a movie - "Sing to the Dawn" at 2.30 pm. After which, she had her favourite bacon and cheese takoyaki.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARLING GIRL!

Happy 4th Birthday to Meredith

This year we celebrated Dith's B/D at karaoke near my house. Invited only family members and some of her close friends.

Very special right? Karaoke ... Dith, Renee and Melissa enjoyed themselves singing their favourite Hokkien songs on stage.

Lumpy Wants her Mummy!

Meredith has a small Lumpy when she succeeded in her toilet training on 22 June 2007. She has recently been very attached to Lumpy and told me that Lumpy is lonely and wants her mummy. Ops, am I too engrossed in taking care of Keegan and she felt left out?

As usual, she will normally get what she wants if I can afford it. I called up the distributor for the Winne the Pooh & Friends soft toys and was informed they do not have Lumpy anymore and asked me to try Mustafa Shopping Centre.

Thanks to Auntie Kim suggestion, we went to OG Orchard after zoo phonics class and we really found the one and only Mummy Lumpy...

Visit to Fishing Farm

Since it was Children's Day, I felt that I should ask Meredith what and where would she likes to go. She requested to go "catch fish".

Together with my mother-in-law and Vincent's family, we went to a fish farm in Farmway 1, can't remember the name of the farm as Vincent brought us there.

Eugene and I was glad that we brought Meredith there instead of shopping, see toys etc. Both Meredith and Melissa enjoyed themselves feeding the fishes and my mother-in-law too doing fish spa therapy.

Nice place, will definitely go again. The next time, I want to try fishing prawns.

Refuse to go to school

Meredith refused to go to school again. She cried when she reaches the school door. Reasons being Teacher Cindy hit her when she jumped, she dislike Chinese, she said Chinese is too difficult and she does not know how to do.

I must admit that this is my fault, I did not expose her with Mandarin earlier. So, got to help her to catch up now. I am not good in Mandarin too, so got to study together with her. Just bought a Essential Guide to hanyu pinyin for myself to assist her.

My goodness, I am starting to have pressure on her studies now, she is only in Nursery. Cannot imagine what will happen when she goes Primary 1... Must ask my nephews, Sean & Leory for help.

No more milk ...

I was down with sore throat and fever last saturday. Milk supply went down suddenly from 160 ml per session to 120 ml per day.

My intital plan was to stop when he turns 6 months, who knows, he is only 5 months 3 weeks old. I was quite disappointed at first, but when the time taken up for the expressing was cut down, I have more free time. I get to sleep earlier as I don't need to wait till 11 pm for my last expressing and wake up at 5 am for expressing too.

Previously, still thinking of how to stop the milk production without taking medication. Well, consider it a blessing that it stop production naturally.

Hee, my breasts are not as "big" as when breastfeeding (size 80C). However, now I fit size 75C (before pregnancy was size 75A).

Bye bye ... "suck suck"

No more sleeping through the night!

Arrgggg ... Keegan has been waking up for milk for the past 1 month. I tried to ignore his crying, feed him water & carry him, but it does not work. He wins, he either get to drink his milk or "suck suck".

As I have slow down my expressing, the supply is not enough for him. He has started taking forumla.

National Breastfeeding Week

Read an article on breastfeeding on today's Mind your Body. I agreed that not all mothers are able to breastfeed. Common problems encountered include sore or cracked nipples, blocked milk ducts, engorgement and lack of milk.

I did not succeed in breastfeeding Meredith, never really thought that engorgement could be so painful. At that time, due to poor latched on, I suffered cracked nipples and soon experienced engorged breasts. They got very hard and painful. I had fever too. My gyane gave me antibiotics and also had a cut on my right breast to remove the pus. I was very sad at the moment when my gyane asked me to stop breastfeeding.

Since then, I was determined to succeed for my second child, which I did. Still going on for Keegan. He is on total breastfeed. However, will be stopping when he turns 6 months which will be on 6 October 2008. Felt a little pity but at least I did it.

Regretted that I did not take photo of my "milk" which I stored in the freezer a month ago. I had problems storing them as my freezer was full, not able to buy ice cream and other frozen foods. However, I slow down my expressing and also with Keegan's increase milk intake, this is what I have now ...

Must not forget to take a nice picture of breastfeeding Keegan.

Attractive Package to boost Singapore's Birth Rate!

The government is giving more tax breaks, parental leave to boost Singapore’s birth rate. 16 weeks of maternity leave, baby bonus of $4000 etc. Indeed very attractive but not for me. Two is enough for me, at least at this moment.

With Keegan growing up, he wants attention too. Have to manage him and Meredith well to prevent jealousy. What is most headache for me is during sleeping time, when I need to help Meredith to brush teeth and change pyjamas, Keegan will cry for attention. Think I got to ask my maid to change her shower time. Really cannot imagine those mothers out there without maids.

Every night, they will both have their bedtime stories before sleeping. Meredith will sleep first followed by Keegan after his last feeding and lights off.

The only free time which I have is when both of them are asleep, which is now... So, third one... hmmmm...

Keegan's First Trip to Hairdresser

Brought Keegan to my mum-in-law's friend salon for a clean shave as he turned 4 months old. Decided to do the shaving as it looks uneven from the back with patches. Even though there is a grandmother tales about shaving hair on either 1st or 4th month, my mum-in-law is not particular about it. Therefore, all the grandchildren of Goh Family did not shave except for Joel & my Keegan boy. Hope his hair will be thick and black when it grows.

My Meredith & Renee Jiejie call me "Bo Ta" ...

Wii

Nigel brought his Wii set to our house since he will be in Singapore for 5 weeks. Besides Eugene and myself, Meredith enjoyed herself too. We even have the thought of getting a set. Good form of exercise for people who are "lazy" like me.

My Darling Girl Has Grown Up!

As usual, I was going through Meredith's school bag to ensure that her colour pencils and pencils are sharpen. Found that half of her eraser was missing and started questioning her.

What happened???

She told me she was naughty in class and her teacher May Fen had thrown it away. She was not paying attention in class, following her classmates using colour pencils to poke into the eraser. That annoyed her teacher so she thrown it away. "Hello ... Teacher May Fen, that eraser cost $1.50!!!! you thrown away ... aiya.."

I did not reprimand Meredith but asked her not do it again and she gave me her promise.

Did not know that this incident hurt Meredith until I told my mother-in-law about it in Mandarin. Meredith understood it, she said "Mummy, don't tell other people about it" I was shocked to hear that and apologise to her. Guess, she felt embarrassed.

She has really grown up.

Thumb Sucking ... just like Eugene when young

My mother-in-law said keegan is just like eugene when he was young, suck thumb ... So sweet, better than pacificer ... but mummy's "neh neh" still the best.

Sleep through the Night

Hooray, Keegan managed to sleep through the night without waking up for milk since 2 weeks ago. We made it.

Although he did not wake up for milk, he will still cry for a while and stopped. If he cried too loud, instead of carrying him or feed him milk, I gave him pacifier and it works. He was being pacified and went back to sleep in less than a minute. Sometimes, he will suck his thumb.

My friends have been asking how did we train him? Actually, it is brain programming ... after his last feed at 10 pm, I will talk to him, " good night, sleep through the night and wake up tomorrow at 7 am for milk milk. I know you are make it." That's what we did for Meredith too.

Anyway, I still have to wake up to express milk at 3.30 am. Well, 3 more months to go ... and I shall stop breastfeeding.

Add to Wishlist ...

It has been a long time since I spend on a "branded" bag. The last one I got for myself was Gucci dumpling in early Year 2005. Wow, 3 years ... Guess it's time to update my wish list for X'mas? B/D? anniversary??? ... (ahmmm, Eugene, will I have it?) Or wait for me to strike ToTo.

Keegan needs to be nebulized!

After 5 days of medication, Keegan's cough and phlegm did not get better. Went to see Dr Lee and she suggested nebulization, faster way to dissolve his phlegm. Poor boy, only 2 months and 3 weeks have to go through this.

Happy Birthday!

Eugene's birthday is on 5 July, but he will not be around as he is travelling to China tomorrow.

We bought a "small" cake for him and sang him an early birthday song.

Early Birthday Dinner for Mum-in-law

We had an early birthday dinner yesterday for my mum-in-law's birthday. This year, instead of celebrating at Tung Lok group or Ritz Carlton's Summer Pavilion, my MIL chose Prima Revolving Restaurant. She had her dinner there more than 20 years ago with my father-in-law.

The kids enjoy the panoramic view of the sea whereas my MIL felt "giddy".

Meredith tried pepper for the first time with the shredded scallops with fish and egg white. Her comments was nice but too salty.

Overall, the food was a disappointment, Eugene gave a rating of 4 out of 10.

Ai yo ... Keegan also coughing

Keegan has caught the cough virus from Meredith. He is coughing with phlegm. Eugene brought him to see Dr Lim instead of Dr Lee as she was on leave.

Dr Lim said he has mucous in his lung. Gave him 3 types of medicine, Zenmolin Syrup to open air-way and loosen phlegm, Rhinathiol 2% for his cough and Otrivin Nasal Drops for cold. If he does not recover in 5 days, got to see him again. We have to watch out for any wheezing, breathless or lost in appetite these few days.

He was also exposed to chickenpox as my 2nd sister-in-law was infected yesterday. Chickenpox is contagious from about 2 days before the rash appears and lasts until all the blisters are crusted over, the symptom will only show after 2 weeks.

I am safe as I had mine 12 years ago, Meredith had the chickenpox vaccine done when she was 1 year old. Eugene??? not sure if he had his and no vaccine done.

Movie - Kungfu Panda

Eugene suggested that we should bring Meredith to movie since she has not been to a cinema before. So, we brought her to watch Kungfu Panda yesterday at GV Bishan. My last movie was Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, which was in Y2003.

How can we miss the popcorn when watching movie, that's my favourite. So, we brought popcorn even though Dith is still coughing. I forbids Eugene from holding the popcorn as he will finish all before the movie starts. Hee, that reminds me of what he did during our courtship.

Eugene and I enjoyed the show, but not Dith... asked if she wants to watch movie in cinema again, she said "no". Why? It's not fun!!! Guess, she does not understand the story and also having to sit on the booster seat for more than an hour, backside pain ...

Let's Go and Feed Fishes!

Yesterday, we brought Meredith & Keegan to Botanical Garden to feed fishes and tortoises.

We went there last year with the GOH family while my mother-in-law had her spine surgery done at Gleneagles Hospital. I remembered there were many tortoises at the time, but yesterday, we only saw two.

Meredith was afraid that she might fall into the pond therefore, she stood quite far when she threw the fish food into the pond. We spent about 15 minutes feeding them and it was a very enjoyable time spent as a family instead of bringing her out for shopping or see toys.

We had lunch at the foodcourt, see how Meredith enjoyed her "kopi c" ...

Nice scenery, so how can we miss a family shot.

Agrrr ... LUMP again ... I hate it ....

Woke up this morning at 3.30 am and found a lump on my left bottom breast. Agrr, not again ... At the moment, I thought might as well stop breastfeeding. I express every 3 - 4 hourly even at night, why still got lump???

I still have my saviour "cabbage" in the fridge. Put it on and slept till 7.30 am. After expressing, it was still around.

Didn't want to use cabbage again, I decided to apply the Gerber Breast Therapy at 4.30 pm. Whilst putting it in the microwave oven, I was having other thoughts in my mind and did not realized that I have pressed 1 minute instead of 10 seconds. Suddenly, I 'wake" up and quickly stopped it just in time before the relief pack bursted in the oven. However, the pack was punctured, so got to discard. Luckily, still have one pack for applying.

After expressing, it was now cleared ... Really don't understand what went wrong! Is it because I seldom let Keegan latch on or did not massage enough? Any advise?

Keegan is 2 months and 3 days old

Keegan had his 1st immunisation(6 in 1) and also rotavirus vaccine this morning. Expected to have slight fever, given him 1 dose of progessic (1 ml). Guess it must be uncomfortable cos he is very grouchy now ... kept crying and can't get into his sleep.

He now weighs 5.87 kg and 60.5 cm long. Dr Lee commented that he is growing well, big boy.

Saw the two red rounded rashes on his cheek? Thought it was milk rash, but Dr Lee confirmed it was eczema.

He has reflux too, we have to add thicker in my breastmilk and also carry him upright when feeding. In this way, he will be more comfortable.

He is still waking up for milk in the middle of the night, how I wish he will be like Meredith, sleep thorough the night when she was 2 months old. We used the same method as Meredith but did not work on Keegan, got to think of a another way to wean him off the night feed. Mummy's eyes are like "panda" now.

Fortune Meow stall at Flea Market, China Square Central

Today was a fruitful and exciting day for Meredith, went to watch Barney's show in the morning and help to man Fortune Meow stall at China Square Central's Flea Market with Ah Ma and Ju Jus...

In return, Ah ma rewarded her a "xiao mi meow", newly added to the meow family.

Barney's Let's Imagine Live!

After a long wait, finally the day has arrived. Today, we watched Barney's Let's Imagine Live at Suntec Convention Centre Hall 602. We had very good seats, thanks to me, booked on the day where the tickets were sold online at 9 am sharp... Kiasu mummy...

Bought masks for them at Popular bookshop and realized that Meredith likes Riff. Meredith enjoyed herself during the show and even joined Barney, BJ, Baby Bob and Riff in dancing.

Glad that she enjoyed herself.

龍千玉-只愛你一個

Recently my mum is into karaoke, she bought a few hokkien DVDs and learn how to sing.

Meredith also got hooked on it and like this song very much. She even commented that this is a very sad song. Well, she sang better than me, can pronounce the wordings too.

Dumpling Festival (a.k.a Duan Wu Jie)

It has been more than 10 years since my mother-in-law make dumpling.

As requested by Vincent (for his beloved wife, Tracy), my MIL has agreed to do it this year. Tracy likes dumpling with duck yolk and Eugene too.

Darling, I ordered two dumplings with double duck yolk specially for you, enjoy when you are back in Singapore on Monday!

Hee, I was supposed to help out but ended up sitting there talking to my mother-in-law as I can't handle the dumpling.

MIL at work ...

Cabbage leaves are still the Savior!

I am currently still breastfeeding Keegan. Discovered a big lump on my left breast on last sat evening. Tried massaging, used the Gerber breast therapy, express out the milk and also feed Keegan but it was still around.

Mastitis??? I was so afraid that it might be mastitis and decided to see the Lactation Consultant today if the lump does not clear after putting cold cabbage leaves yesterday night.

What a relief, the lump was cleared this morning.

Let's Wear the same shirt, Mummy!

I like to wear the same t-shirt with Meredith and she feels proud of it too. We have 6 sets of same t-shirts, 5 from bossini and 1 from zara. I wear the largest kid's size 150, glad that I can fit in.

Here's our latest t-shirt from Zara.

fortunemeow.com

My two brothers and I had started a business together retailing fortune meow. The idea came from my youngest brother, Choon Wee who likes the fortune cat so much that he wanted to start a business on it. My mum wanted the three of us to start this business, so, Yong and I have to support him.

Besides retailing online, we will be selling at flea market every Sunday at China Square starting 1 June.

As usual, my mum is the the top sales woman, she sold more than 100 pieces of handphone straps to her colleagues. Wee had also sold a few of them too. Christina, Wee's friend have also took some stocks to be placed at her push-cart in Hereen. Ops, as for me, sleeping partner, only sold one to my maid.

Want to purchase one home and "HUAT"?

A toast to success for fortunemeow.

Early Father's Day Dinner

This year, instead of having our usual breakfast for Father's Day celebration, we had an early dinner at Ah Orh Seafood Restaurant located at Blk 115 Jalan Bukit Merah.

The restaurant has been around for more than 10 years according to my dad. However, we have not been there before. Every weekend on our way back home from my dad's house, we see many cars queueing along the side road waiting for parking lots. Looks like the food there must be good, so I suggested dinner there.

There is no menu provided, you have to order the food at the counter where they displayed them. We ordered 7 dishes (as seen in the picture), crispy cereal prawn, chili crab, vegetable, fish maw soup, duck, minced prawn ball and yam basket. The food was normal, not as tasty as we expected and was over priced for the quality. We had a bill of $211.80.

This will be our first and last time dining in that restaurant as we have "placed a big tiger" there (term used in hokkien).

HFMD? Why us?

Last Saturday, we have breakfast at Mac Donalds. Dith was so excited about it, woke both Eugene and I up early in the morning as she was afraid that the breakfast was over if we don't go early.

In the afternoon, she developed fever. We thought it might be the virus that she caught from school. Checked her palms, legs and mouth, there was no blisters. Her classmate had HFMD last Friday, but there were no new cases since Thu. As usual, took medication and her fever went down.

In the evening, we found two red dots inside her cheek, also one red dot on her palm and her fever went up again. Oh dear, is it HFMD??? Why us? Afraid that Keegan might be get it too, Dith and I went to my mum's house that night immediately to stay, leaving Keegan with Eugene and my maid.

Today, her fever and those red dots were gone. Thanks goodness, not HFMD.

Mummy, I want a Meimei!

Mummy, I want a meimei, you give me another meimei,ok? My gosh, Meredith is asking for a meimei after Keegan.

Explained to her that I have Keegan and her is enough, but she insisted that I should give her another meimei. She said she will help take care of meimei, help her to change clothes. She will be a great helper.

Ha, is this a sign... Eugene, must take precaution!

Meredith & her T-shirt

Have decided to keep Dith at home for this week as there is a suspected case of HFMD in her school.

Besides watching tv programmes and doing homework, we did some artwork too. I wanted to write keegan and her name on the plain white t-shirt but she insisted on drawing it herself. She drew "mickey mouse", minnie mouse and rabbit", let see how well she has done.
